The Westside Warriors won't be treating their fans to dinner.

The Warriors outworked, outplayed and outgunned the visiting Victoria Grizzlies 4-0 on 'Guaranteed Win Night,' at Royal LePage Place.

Had the Grizzlies prevailed, all fans in attendance would have been treated to a free A & W hamburger.

Rookie Tyler Brickler, with his most dominant performance of the season paced the team offensively with three assists including a spectacular pass to Grayson Downing on the back half of a give-and-go, setting up the opening goal and eventual game winner.

Cam Reid, also in the first, Quinn Gould and Alex Grieve in the third scored for the Warriors.

Kevin Jebson blocked all 29 shots he faced in recording his fourth shutout of the season.

"We started from the opening puck drop and I thought we had a lot of energy. We were skating, getting on pucks and pressuring pucks all over the ice," says Warriors head coach Darren Yopyk.

"When we're doing that, we're a pretty effective team. We got on the cycle a little bit and when things got in our end we just got it off the glass, got it out and re-started again."

Wednesday's effort was a far cry from the last two games when the Warriors struggled with their composure and discipline in splitting weekend games with Quesnel and Powell River.

Brickler says it was a matter of re-focussing.

"It was a good effort for our team for sure. We had a bit of trouble the last few games starting off," says Brickler.

"We were just focussing on that first goal and the first five minutes of the first period. I'm glad we ended up doing that and I though we played very good all around."

Brickler, a native of the Chicago area, came to the Warriors in late November.

He says he's starting to feel comfortable in the BCHL.

"It's Canadian Junior A Hockey. It's the best of the best and I just go out, have fun and try to learn and do my best every night."

It was more than good enough Wednesday.

The Warriors outshot Victoria 48-29 on the night. The score would have been much worse had it not been for the play of Grizzlies netminder Ryan Holfield, who made several spectacular saves to keep his team in the game.

Neither team had any success on the power-play, both going 0-2.

The game was devoid of much rough stuff until Warriors defenceman Joel Woznikoski was jumped by Grizzlies d-man Brad Pawlowski with just over five minutes to go.

Following the brief tussle, a clump of hair lay on the ice after Pawlowski apparently grabbed a hold of Woznikoski's locks during the melee.

The Warriors return to the ice Friday when they entertain the Alberni Valley Bulldogs, a team which laid an 8-1 thumping on the Warriors back on October 24.

Westside is now 15 points up on fourth place Salmon Arm and need just one more win or a Silverbacks loss to clinch at least third spot in the Interior Conference.

The Warriors have just six games remaining in the regular season, three at home and three on the road.
